The Lower Gate of the Daroca wall is one of the most beautiful and best preserved urban defensive buildings in Aragon. La Fondonera, as it is also known, was completed in 1452. It is made up of two rectangular lateral towers topped by battlements. The front face of each tower measures about six meters on a side, and the sides, 12 meters. The battlements show a stepped profile. They are joined to the tower by means of three-step corbels, with small arches.
The entrance arch has a star vault inside. The façade displays a shield from the time of Charles V, but older elements can be seen, such as the voussoirs of the primitive arch. A gallery of semicircular arched windows served to illuminate the interior. Under the eaves of the roof, the Low Gate sports a brick strip with loopholes.
Next to the Fondonera we find another of the most famous monuments in Daroca: the Fuente de los Veinte Caños.
