The walls that surround it, preserved in their entirety, were built between the 13th and 16th centuries. Two defensive gates stand out: the Lower Gate, remodeled in the 16th century, with two quadrangular towers, and the High Gate, transformed in the 17th century, which are located at the two main entrances to the city, in addition to having other , like that of Valencia or the Mudejar one of San Martín de la Parra.

In Daroca there were three castles: the Mayor, the Jewish Quarter and the San Cristóbal (or Torre del Andador).
The extensive ruins of the Mayor castle almost blend with the eroded hill that dominates the Collegiate Church.
Oval in plan, measuring about 80 x 30 meters, its most prominent element is a rectangular tower made of mortar and masonry and a pointed arch.
