Aldehuela de Liestos is a municipality in the region of Campo de Daroca, located in the eastern zone, on the border with the neighboring community of Calatayud.
It is a town that belonged to the Cistercian monastery of Piedra until 1269. On the banks of the river of the same name, its urban center shows us good examples of popular architecture, highlighting two buildings of the eighteenth century: the town hall and the parish church dedicated to the Assumption. The facades of both sport the heraldic shields of those who were lords of the place until the 19th century, the Liñán family. The interior of the temple houses interesting examples of furniture art such as various baroque altarpieces and a silver chalice with a circular foot dated to the late fifteenth century.
In the surroundings we will find three peirones, dedicated to the Virgen del Pilar, San Roque and San Antonio; and a hermitage, erected in honor of San Roque on top of a hill.
Nearby are magnificent natural enclaves, such as the source of the Calderillo, the Peña del Buitre, the lagoons of Guialguerrero, La Zaida and Gallocanta, the Ojos de Las Cuerlas, the pinsapar de Orcajo, or beautiful towns, of which good examples are Torralba de los Frailes, Cubel, Used, Santed, Las Cuerlas, Gallocanta or Berrueco. Nearby is also the capital of the region, Daroca, with all the services that the traveler may require,
The nearby region of Calatayud offers us the beautiful places of the Ojo de Pardos and the Monasterio de Piedra, not forgetting the spas of Paracuellos de Jiloca, Jaraba and Alhama de Aragón, which invite you to disconnect from the routine.
We can enjoy the wide network of trails that Aldehuela presents, making good mountain bike routes, on foot or on horseback. Not surprisingly, it is part of the GR 24 Trails of Calatayud, Daroca and Gallocanta. Although the place and the sporting activity that really define Aldehuela are the Sickles of the Piedra river and the climbing, because the escaped walls excavated by the river are famous for both their natural and sports value.
The municipality is located to the SO. The province of Zaragoza, and is accessed from the capital by the N-330 road (currently Mudejar highway), with a detour in Daroca to the local road towards Valconchan.
Virgin Warrior Guide, second Sunday of June. Romeria to the hermitage, in the term of Cubel, the City council offers to each rosemary two hard-boiled eggs, bread and a liter of wine.
