Just thirty-eight kilometers separate this beautiful city of Teruel.
It was called in the Visigothic period Santa Maria de Oriente.
It is a typical and charmingly medieval villa.

More than visiting its most remarkable buildings, it is convenient to stroll through its streets and squares, picturesque alleys bordered by stately homes built with stone extracted from its nearby mountains, emblazoned and decorated with artistic grilles, latticework and overhangs.

Both the Cathedral and the Church of Santa Maria are Renaissance.
The Cathedral contains a magnificent altarpiece under the invocation of San Pedro; its treasure consists of flamenco tapestries from the 16th century and valuable jewels.
