San Esteban de Litera, a village in the province of Huesca, located north of the Ebro depression, in the district of La Litera.
The population of San Esteban de Litera, about 650 inhabitants, is concentrated in the town and in some towers located to the south of the town.
Its municipal term is crossed by the Channel of Aragon and Catalonia, that divides to the same one in a zone of dry land, to the North, and another one of irrigated land,
to the south. In this way, the village becomes the portal of the Upper Berth, as its municipality shares the characteristics of the two subcompartments.
On the one hand, the highlands are arid and rocky, and the plateaus and plains that form in it, are used by almond trees, olive trees and dry crops.
The planned Alcampell canal can allow many of these lands to be irrigated.
On the other hand, the low land, thanks to the waters of the canal, is used for cereals and fruit trees, abounding, at the same time, sheep and pig farms.
